The Katsina State Head of Service, Falalu Bawale, has commended the state government for launching the Rumbun Sauki initiative, aimed at improving the welfare of workers and pensioners.

Speaking at the official launch on February 18 at the Katsina State Government Secretariat, Bawale described the initiative as one of the government’s strategic measures to cushion the economic hardships faced by workers.

“The government is committed to enhancing workers’ welfare through various measures, including the implementation of the new minimum wage of ₦70,000, staff promotions, and a revised pension scheme,” Bawale stated.

He also applauded Governor Dikko Radda for approving the payment of retirement benefits for workers who left service between January 2020 and August 2023. According to him, these payments were completed between June and December 2024, while those who retired from September 2023 to December 2024 are currently receiving their entitlements.

The Rumbun Sauki initiative, he explained, will provide essential commodities at subsidized prices, with state government workers, local government staff, and teachers among the first beneficiaries.

Bawale urged those managing the scheme to ensure its sustainability and called on workers to support government initiatives for continuous improvement in their welfare. He further assured that the program would be expanded in subsequent phases to benefit the broader public.

In conclusion, he expressed gratitude to the government for its commitment to workers’ welfare and encouraged beneficiaries to fully understand and utilize the initiative effectively.
